Island Peak, or Imja Tse, is one of the famous training peaks in the Everest region of Nepal. The Peak's original name was Imja Tse, and later Mount Everest Expedition team changed it to Island Peak as it appears as land over an ocean of ice. Lobuche Peak Climbing
Nearby the world's highest glacier, the Khumbu glacier, and Lobuche village lie a famous trekking peak, Lobuche standing at an elevation of 6,119 m. Lobuche consists of two mountains, Lobuche East (6,119 m) and Lobuche West (6,145 m). As per Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Lobuche East is less physically challenging and requires fewer mountaineering skills. On the other hand, Lobuche West is more complex and requires advanced mountaineering skills. Thus, NMA classified Lobuche East as a trekking peak, whereas Lobuche West was an expedition peak.
Lobuche Peak Climbing follows the Everest Base Camp Trek routes that got separate from Lobuche village. EBC trekkers would stay overnight at Lobuche and head to Gorak Shep and Everest Base Camp the next day. As for Lobuche Peak Climbers, you would remain in Lobuche Base Camp (4,900 m) and head to High Camp at 5,400 m. Dolma Ri, also known as Pokalde Peak, is a low mountain around 12 km southwest of the world's highest Peak, Mt.Everest. It is the simplest and shortest trekking peak and stands at 5,806 m. Even though Pokalde Peak is a small mountain compared to several high peaks of the Khumbu region, it still offers magnificent views of peaks like Ama Dablam, Pumori, and Makalu. The Pokalde Base Camp resides on the foot of Kongma La Pass (5,536 m) and is the famous spot where footprints of rare snow leopards were found.
